Thursday 24.3.2011

It's Thursday Thursday Thursday :P yeah the Rebecca Black thing got to me (for those of you who don't know who she is, she's YouTubes latest train wreck). I'm no hater so i'm not going to sit and bash a 13 year old but even though her voice isn't that great, I admire her confidence. I mean really people, how many of us can confidently make a music video with a zit on our face AND take all the mean comments? She's wonder woman! :D ( ok besi 6naza) This week was freakishly slow and i'm glad it's over. It's had it's ups and downs but I'm glad it's over. I was a part time vegan but I gave in to chicken wings (thanks to my extremely supportive friend DMK) :P Now, i'm gonna have to start all over. Lucky for me I have 68 days left till Grad!!! I'm up to my elbows in work and I just hope it gets better after my mock exam. Random thought I had, but today is the only Thursday 24.3.2011 the world will ever witness. Make the best of it. I'll leave you with the Friday video... watch it if you dare :P

Vote!

Please take your time to visit the link above and vote for the poem 'The Sun and The Moon'
Why? Aside from being the youngest contestant, Quamar Al-Mumin is the only Kuwaiti that took part in this contest and i'm proud to say that her poem was actually the best of the three entered.
Good luck Quamar! :D

Daily Inspiration

'Empty cans make the most noise.'

I know I've stopped posting daily inspirations and i'm really sorry about that. I'm not even going to bother posting an excuse. This is just an old phrase I was told when I was in elementary and I never really understood it till today. I'm not going to analyze it for you guys, contemplate on it for a while, i'm sure you'll figure it out :D

Last Night

I was trying to go to the Avenues and we couldn't find a parking spot so we went to Arraya instead. On the way I saw Burj AlTahreer and it looked like a light house/ disco ball/ star wars sword! :P It was Awesome!!!
When I first walked in, there was a mini Islamic art exhibition happening in the middle of the place, thats one of the reasons I love Arraya! The exhibitions, the clothes, and the food are the best! :D
This was my personal favorite (picture above)
(sorry it's blurry)

I fell in love with this dress (the red/orange one) but you can't really see it because it's covered in a poncho. I was so tempted to buy it but I didn't because I have no where to wear it to :P

Thats what it looks like from the front, it has an open back with off white interior.

Today I Am Muslim Too

'The Republican Congressman behind today's controversial hearings into homegrown radical Islamists remained defiant in the face of growing 'hysteria'.
Peter King is today set to chair the series of hearings targeting Muslims in America and their role in terrorism.
The Congressman revealed last night he has ramped up security in the wake of 'hostile phone calls' and threats from overseas.'

Basically a congressman is trying to rally all muslim americans into trials to see if they had a part in 9-11. Theres a protests happening in New York right now against it where people from all over the state are gathering up and being muslim for a day in the 'Today I Am Muslim Too' protest.

What's In My Bag

After reading a lot of 'whats in my bag' posts, I decided to make my own!
I don't really have that much things in my bag because I took a small one with me and the pictures aren't that great because I uploaded them with my cell. Here they are! :
The Bag: I got it from Uterque ( I never figured out how to pronounce the stores name but recently it's been a favorite of mine ) I love leather and gold, so when I found this I was pretty psyched!
Inside the bag: Theres not a lot of things in it because I didn't really have time to stuff it
The stuff: See for yourself
The Wallet: Yes I know... I'm 17 not 7 :P But I seriously love this thing! I saw it in Paul Frank and it was love at first sight! :P   I need to get a new one (when I say I need to get a new wallet, I mean I REALLY need to get a new wallet!) But hey! As long as your happy with what you have then it doesn't matter what people think! :D
The girl stuff: So every girl has her random beauty supplies in her bag. With most girls its a bunch of make up or god knows, with me it's nail polish! :D I did a post about this color (teak Rose) a while back. Just in case I get bored and want to do my nails or if I need another coat. The Body Butter is just something I randomly felt like I had to throw in my bag, I never did end up using it though :P I tend to do that a lot, throw in things I don't use.
The makeup: I don't really carry around make up. This is my favorite color ever... EVER! I got it from the States and it's Lancome. Its called (Brun Rose) I have a thing with rose colors. I can't find it in Kuwait so I just stock up on it when I travel. I like it because i'm pretty white and this color makes me look slightly tanner and I can wear it when i'm pale or tan which is a bonus. Except I hate the fact that it's so hard to find and even when I find a color close to it, it never seems to have the same effect.

The Book: If you read my blog, you can see that i'm pretty much a book worm. So I like to carry a book with me in case I get bored or if i'm in the car. Right now i'm reading Brida by Paulo Coelho. Basically anything written by Paulo Coelho is worth reading.
The Perfume: I'm in love with Serpent by Cavali. I use it 24/7 (explains the half empty bottle) :P
And I can't leave the house without my shades and ipod! I LOVE my wi fares. I got them in an off whitish-cream color so they won't look kiddish (to make up for my wallet )

And that's a wrap!

Daily Inspiration

Tomorrows a new day, a new opportunity, another chance, and it also happens to be Friday! :D ( which is the weekend) So to everyone who hasn't had that great of a day/week, tomorrows a fresh start! This week, we talked about determinism in class and it's been on my mind a lot lately..

Determinism and Individualism : destiny vs. Free-will
Is what happens to you determined by you and your actions? Or by your destiny?
After thinking about this for a loooooooong time, I concluded that your fate is determined by both. It's a combination of destiny and your own actions. I believe that you're fate is determined by your destiny (god chooses your destiny) and the way you reach it is by your actions. And every human being is in charge of his or her own actions aka free will. But all our actions affect the lives of those around us. Our destinies are all tied together. It's all a domino effect. 'a butterfly from Brazil whose careless flapping has caused more tornadoes in Kansas than all the future sequels to The Wizard of Oz combined.
Edward Lorenz '  A scientist passed out that idea at a conference in 1972 in the states. He didn't mean it literally but his point was that every little action will effect another person or event. That's basically food for thought... Does anyone have a different theory or opinion?
